Where: City Central Services Complex – 100 Woodbury Road
Description: The City Public Works Department will conduct a public meeting for citizens to review and provide comments on preliminary plans for a Safe Routes to School (SRTS) program for Robertsville Middle School. In 2008, the City applied for and received a 100 percent federally funded grant for the program, which includes infrastructure improvements ($225,719) and non-infrastructure school components ($12,376). The infrastructure improvements will make biking and walking to school safer with improvements along identified traveled routes. The infrastructure improvements are ready to proceed to the construction phase and include new sidewalks, school speed limit beacons, traffic control signs and pavement markings along South Illinois Avenue, Robertsville Road, Jefferson Avenue and South Jefferson Circle. All improvements will be constructed within the street right-of-way limits. It is anticipated that the project will be under construction in the fall of 2010 and be completed in the spring 2011.
The meeting will be held at the City Central Services Complex at 6:00 P.M. to 7:00 PM on August 12, 2010. Citizens are encouraged to walk-in at any time between 6:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. to review and comment on the preliminary plans for infrastructure improvements. Questions or comments can be directed to the City Engineer at 425-1807.
